Statement of Faith
Vail Valley Baptist Church adheres to the truths taught in the whole council of God. We have found the 1689 2nd London Baptist Confession to most closely align with the Bible and thus our statement of faith and the teaching of the church align closely with it. In summary:
We hold to the 5 Sola's of the Reformation:
1. Sola Scriptura: Scripture alone teach us everything that we need to make us wise for salvation through faith in Christ and to be thoroughly equipped for every good work
2. Solus Christus: Christ alone, Salvation is, and can only be, by Jesus Christ alone. We don’t get saved by anything we do, or a mixture of things we do plus Jesus
3. Sola Fide: Faith alone, we are justified by faith without the works of the law. We are not saved by good works but are saved for good works
4. Sola Gratia: Grace alone, Grace is God’s generous disposition by which He lavishes us with good things that we do not deserve. Everything we receive from God is by grace, from our daily bread to the final resurrection of our bodies
5. Soli Deo Gloria: To the glory of God alone. Man’s chief end is to glorify God, and to enjoy Him forever
We hold to the doctrines of grace:
1. Radical depravity
2. Sovereign election
3. Definite atonement
4. Irresistible call
5. Preserving grace
