What to Expect
Bible Classes
Vail Valley's Bible classes are held before the Sunday Worship Service. We divide into age groups to study the scriptures with content designed for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the people of God may be complete, equipped for every good work. (2 Timothy 3:16) Worship Service Our service lasts approximately 75 minutes. Our purpose is to worship the God of the Bible in corporate prayer, singing and study. We lift our voices to glorify God through a combination of classic hymns and more contemporary praise songs. Our sermons are expository, working our way verse by verse through the scriptures, and generally last 35 minutes. We celebrate communion weekly as we remember the forgiveness paid for by Jesus' on the cross. What should I wear? Our congregation tends to dress casually. You are welcome to dress in such a way that you can worship comfortably. |
Family Worship
Vail Valley is a family of families and we believe that, as such, we should worship God as a family. We have a nursery for our little ones, but we encourage children ages 5 and up to remain with their family during the worship service. Why do we do this? Proverbs 22:6 tells us to “Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not depart from it.” For years, youth programs have kept middle and high school students separate from church with games and pizza parties and watered down messages. They are then tossed into the world as adults with no idea of how to be a part of the church body. The results are devastating and predictable: they leave the church, often never to return. At Vail Valley we want our kids to be part of our congregation: learning His Word, seeing God move, and witnessing lives transformed. |
