Prayer Of Confession, March 31, 2024
O Lord our God, you are awesome indeed! Who can stand before your righteous judgement? We confess that although even your Son Jesus Christ does nothing on his own, but only what he sees you, our heavenly Father, doing, we have foolishly gone our own way, living prideful sinning lives. You have called us to be a holy people, yet we have not conducted ourselves as your treasured possession. We have been quick to covet lifeless things and slow to put away false gods. We have allowed ourselves to be ensnared by worldly cares that you forbid, while you have done everything necessary to set us free. Forgive us, Lord , for we have merited your anger and deserve judgement, yet we pray for mercy and life. Speak once more through your beloved Son, give us grace and strength to stand in his glorious presence and to honor him as is his due. For you have raised Christ Jesus from the dead, and we long to hear his voice, that we too might pass from death to life, in Jesus’ holy name. Amen
