Prayer Of Confession, January 28, 2024
Holy, healing Lord, you who desire mercy and not sacrifice, we confess we have too rarely shown mercy to others, and too often condemned the guiltless. We have allowed sin to cling to us rather than cast it aside. We have at times regarded your discipline far too lightly, and at other times given in to discouragement when we felt the sting of rebuke. We have allowed the root of bitterness and defilement to grow among us. But let it now be uprooted! Cleanse and heal us, renew and restore us, O God. Let us never forget that you love us with the holy love of a father, and that you intend every word of discipline for our growth and improvement. Forgive us, make our sins whiter than snow, and give us courage to live once again and forever in the light of your countenance. Amen
