Prayer Of Confession, February 23, 2025
Holy God, we confess that we stumble and fall short in matters of faith and obedience. We presume to be so familiar with you, or so knowledgable regarding your will, that we impose limits on what you are able to do among us because of our unbelief. Not that we are able to so limit you, but in your grace you respect our decisions and allow us to live according to their results, to see how fruitless they are, and then you speak to us anew in order to arouse our sincere intention by reminding us of all that your prophets have said, and all that our Lord and Savior has spoken through your apostles. Forgive us, O Lord, for every sin, every rebellious and faithless act, every time we have refused to hear you. Forgive us for every time we have participated in the scoffing and the lust of this present age or twisted the meaning of your words to suit our own desires, even when they lead to destruction. Rescue us, we pray, from the coming judgment, and in your merciful patience, restore to us the joy of your salvation. This we ask in the name of our living Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. Amen
